Ice Dams and Water Damage

12/11/2015 (Permalink)

From WWW.WEATHER.GOV

Good Day Everyone!

I found this to be a pretty decent article about Ice dams and the damage they cause to your home.  The article put out by www.weather.gov, shows how you can prevent or minimize the ice dam formations on your roof.  Happy reading!  We have had some nice warm weather up until now, and in Massachusetts, (really ALL of New England) we have some extra time to prepare for the upcoming winter weather.  An ounce of prevention, blah blah blah…….

By installing extra insulation in your attic, adding roof cables to your soffits and gutters and making sure your gutters and down spouts are cleared you can help keep yourself and your home out of the path of water damaged ceilings, walls, floors or even flooded basements.  I know we are all very busy these weeks, so do what you can, take advantage of the weather now so you are not working in worse conditions later this winter.  Until the next blog, from SERVPRO of Hampshire County, plan and get on top of these things, and stay alert!
